Are YOU a strong, intelligent women? Do YOU want to break down barriers and prove your worth? Well anything a man can do a women can do just as good!

Equality is everything so it’s about time us women take advantage of the amazing opportuequal men and womennities that we have all fought so fiercely for over the years. A hugely inspirational women who currently fights for women’s rights and equality is Beyoncé Knowles who stated the following,

“You know, equality is a myth, and for some reason, everyone accepts the fact that women don’t make as much money as men do. I don’t understand that. Why do we have to take a backseat?”

As Beyoncé states why should us women take a backseat? When hugely important and inspiring roles such as engineering jobs have been made available to us!

Take pride in the fact that YOU can be part of the hugely influential career of engineering and help improve and change the world for the BETTER!

In actual fact it has been stated that,

“In 2013, only 14% of engineering graduates were women. And only 4% of professionally registered engineers are female,”

The UK has the lowest percentage of female engineers with only 7%, these are shocking figures that only YOU can change! So help us put wheels into motion and make a change today and choose engineering as your future career path and make the transformation of 2016!

Stereotyping has been portrayed and forced upon us all from birth, suggestions such as pink is for girls and blue is for boys? Maths and science are boy subjects whilst art and drama are for girls? WRONG! As human beings we are all equal! Choose the correct subjects maths and science and you can become an engineer too.

Think engineering is all dirty clothes and oil? NO! Engineering created the mobile phone that’s in your pocket and enabled you to have to power to access the internet world.  See a number of different engineering roles YOU could be part of below!

Aerospace & Avionics Engineering:

This particular sector employs engineers to be accountable for the design and construction of air transport vehicles such as spacecraft and aeroplanes.  Interested in the operational side of a spacecraft or aeroplane? Then this could be the role for YOU.

Automotive Engineering:

Perhaps you are more interested in the development of the overall production, design and operation of ground based vehicles? Ever wondered how cars, trucks and buses were created and designed? Then this could be the perfect job for you. The next ground breaking vehicle could be YOUR design.

Architectural Engineering:

Ever fantasised over the stunning landmarks that provide each city with an exclusive hallmark? Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, Big Ben, Statue of Liberty, The Empire State Building are just a small minority of the great masterpieces that have been achieved through the power of Architectural Engineering. An Architectural engineers have expertise in mathematics, physics and engineering. Perhaps YOU could be withholding the next mind blowing hallmark design.

The power of engineering is mind blowing! As seen in the following picture below it magnifies the extreme power and skills a human contains.  Having the ability to craft a smartphone containing a camera to capture a specific moment in front of the breath taking landmark the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower that is also an engineering produce.

Why should engineering be a male dominated profession? Don’t you want to be part of creating history? Ensure women are taking seriously by becoming part of a mounting female workforce within a predominately male world!

The Women’s Engineering Society (WES)

The WES society offers women a wide variety of grants, bursaries, advice and support helping to enthuse practical women since 1919. The support is there, so what’s the excuse?  For more information visit www.wes.org.uk and National Women in Engineering Day. Prove your worth!

Not only is engineering an enormously empowering job, but it is also extremely REWARDING! The average salary for an engineer is an exceptional £35,518! Helping to improve the world and make an equality change whilst being moneyrewarded! What more could a girl want?

Enjoy movies? Computer engineers created the special effects in “Forrest Gump,” “Jurassic Park,” and “Interview with the Vampire.” This was achieved by engineers converting technology to help animate images to appear realistic.

So maybe movies are not your craze? How about theme parks? Theme park engineers are engrossed in the designing, constructing, lighting and guiding the crowd flow in theme parks all around the world! Have you ever been on a Ferris wheel? Well, Ferris wheels are considered to be one of the greatest engineering wonders in the WORLD! It was created by George W. Ferris in 1983. The first ever Ferris wheel was supported by two 40-foot steel towers and linked by the biggest single piece of artificial steel ever to be created at that particular time, a 45-foot axle!

As you can see it has become quite clear that there is more to engineering that meets the naïve eye. Engineering is a hugely powerful, life changing career that has a serious shortage in smart, driven women. The next decision is down to you, are you going to fall into the boring stereotypical views that engineering is a male job? Or are you going to take charge and start changing the statistics of the future today? Only YOU have the power to do so. As Beyoncé says, “Who run the wold? GIRLS!
